ORIX Rent-A-Car switched electricity power used in 417 branches into technically 100% renewable green electricity
Introducing Green Electricity into 417 ORIX Rent-A-Car branches
～Achieves decarbonization equivalent to approx.2000 household per year～
ORIX Auto Corporation (HQ: Minato-ku, Tokyo / CEO: Yuji Kamiyauchi) is pleased to announce that we have switched electricity used in ORIX Rent-A-Car, ORIX Truck Rental, ORIX U-Car dealer, and U-Car auction venue into technically 100% renewable green electricity*1. As a result, 80% of ORIX Auto Corporation’s owned branches and franchise branches have been converted to green power.
The targeted branches this time are 417 car rental branches (approx.80%), all 56 truck rental branches, all U-car dealerships and 15 U-car auction venues (approx.80%). In addition to stand-alone branches that can switch their own electricity contracts, we had switched all electricity used in ORIX Auto Corporation headquarter to green electricity in 2020, which enables the conversion of approx.8.7 million kWh*2 of electricity into green electricity, which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approx. 2000 households*3.
Posters and Acrylic stands informing customers of the use of green power will be installed at the relevant car rental branches.
Based on the “ORIX Group Sustainability Policy”*4 and “Environmental Policy”*5, ORIX Auto Corporation is promoting initiatives to reduce its environmental impact, including installation of EV chargers at some of its car rental branches.
